From The Chairman

Dear API California Coastal Chapter Members,

As we begin 2019 after an eventful and tragic 2018 I want wish everyone a happy new year. Let’s make 2019 a memorable year for the Oil & Gas community in the Ventura area. Your 2018 accomplishments include:

  • Awarding $20,550 in Scholarships to sons and daughters of those associated with the Oil Industry and API
    Member sponsored students.
  • Providing $5000 in support to all Ventura County schools for placement of high quality geology CDs & DVDs in
    school libraries.
  • $750 in awards to Student winners with Energy related projects at the Ventura County Science Fair.
  • Over $3000 in funding of buses to bring elementary school children to the California Oil Museum.
  • Continued support for the Derricks to Desks Program for local teachers.

I would like to thank all the 2018 API BBQ and event sponsors. We could not have done all the great things listed above without your help. The Coastal API always welcomes more sponsors and help with our events.

In 2019 we have opportunities on all committees to help with events. We are currently looking for a BBQ coordinator and a Social media-Communications coordinator. If you’re interested in helping out in any way please contact any board member or use the contact form on the website.

A big thank you to Mr. Zermeno and his team at OST Truck & Crane for the use of the BBQ facility, this generous gift to the Coastal API helps support the fundraising efforts tremendously.

In 2019, our chapter plans to continue its scholarship program, public outreach and community programs in the Ventura county area. Making each year better than the last is our goal and 2019 will be no different. I know the board and all the API coastal members will step up to make this year as fun and successful as all the past years. I encourage you to participate, volunteer and enjoy all the fun events we have planned.

API Coastal Chapter needs the support of your continued personal membership and our local industry membership. This support from participation in activities will allow us to continue our work, including having a great time at all the events. Monthly barbeques are held at the OST facility on the 3rd Friday of each month, wine tastings, golf tournaments and the annual trap shoot are some of the great events.

Finally, please visit the web site regularly at for more information. Click on the calendar section to be informed on not only API events but events from other oil industry related organizations in the area. Please encourage your organization, employer and your fellow co-workers to be an active part in our local API community.

You will find the 2019 Membership Form and information on the 2019 Scholarship Program and application on our website Please continue your support and participation by keeping current on your 2019 membership dues.
